Union advises industrial action on Thursday 12th July remains likely.

The Irish Airline Pilots Association (IALPA), a branch of Fórsa trade union, has offered to accept Ryanair’s invitation to meet the company on Wednesday 11th July.

Fórsa wrote to the company this afternoon (Monday) to confirm the pilots’ body has proposed and reserved a ‘neutral’ venue in order to allay concerns expressed by Ryanair that a meeting between the parties would risk becoming a ‘media circus’.

“IALPA has proposed and reserved a ‘neutral’ venue in order to allay concerns expressed by Ryanair that a meeting between the parties would risk becoming a ‘media circus’.”

The union has made a commitment that the location of the meeting would remain confidential, known only to the company and the union’s delegation of directly-employed elected Ryanair pilot representatives and trade union officials.

The union said that while the effect of industrial action on Thursday’s flight schedules remains unknown, it remained determined to work toward resolving the outstanding issue of a seniority agreement for pilots at the airline.

However, Fórsa said the union expects that Thursday’s scheduled industrial action will go ahead.
